Math Problems
I sat on the plastic chair next to my desk, looking balefully at my textbooks and my notes. I was studying for midterms. Well trying to. I always either had trouble remembering how to do some something or was confused on how to do it. In trying to fill my brain's capacity with this I tried calling my friends, rereading how to do it, looking at my notes, or some sort of combination of the three. Sometimes my friends were too busy, and I found myself wondering how the numbers were augmented or reduced. I would wonder what to put in the proof where, for example, I had to prove that segment AB is congruent to segment CD.
Even though I just ended up staring blankly at the textbook, I still tried to comprehend this. I mean, if I fail, the altitude of my GPA line graph will drop. Then who knows what my parents will do to me!
Even though I do have problems in math, I do understand a lot of things. It's simple to know what the coordinates are along the x- and y-axes. Anyone can understand complementary angles (you know, two angles that add up to 90 degrees) or the circumference (distance around) and diameter (distance across and going through the center point) of a circle.
But still...this handful of things isn't anything compared to the things that I didn't understand. Just like the dreaded proof. If only a couple of those show on the midterm - and they most likely will - considering my teacher - I'm already done for. So sighing, and in one of my attempts to understand this, I grabbed my headphones and started to listen to music. Listening to music helps me in English 1, why wouldn't it help me in math? So I just sat there trying to understand the methods on how to prove a triangle congruence (I know it means they are the same shape and size -- but how do I prove it?).
